I will be traveling to Saskatoon in mid-October to attend the Health Quality Council’s (HQC) QI-nexus conference. This conference is a unique 3-day learning symposium on quality improvement in health care. Key members of the UK’s National Primary Care Development Team (NPDT) will be sharing their knowledge and experience in creating a culture of quality improvement.
Later that same week I will be heading to Regina for another HQC one-day conference. The Integrated Primary Health Care Working Group is having an interdisciplinary forum to share learning from successful experiences in primary care and team development in Saskatchewan and from the study tour of UK primary care sites. Members of the NPDT team will also be present at this conference.
Both conferences will not only provide valuable learning, but the opportunity to meet and share experiences with other health care professionals working in primary care development.

We received good news regarding the rabeprazole study we recently submitted for publication — it has been accepted (with revisions) by a national pharmaceutical journal. It is quite a humbling experience the first time you receive the peer reviewers’ comments!… although they definitely improve the paper. I will keep you posted as to when and where to access the paper once it’s been published.

September has proven to be an extremely busy month, not so much with any primary care activities, but mainly with planning for my wedding in early October…
I did however have the opportunity to present to the Cypress Health Region’s Primary Care Steering Committee on my visit to the UK. I shared my experiences with the UK’s health system, as well as what I believed we could accomplish regionally and provincially. A few eyebrows were raised, but for the most part the presentation was receptively received. The presentation can be found by clicking here or on the link located on the left margin.
